Jawad K. Ali

Professor of Microwave Engineering at the Communication Engineering Faculty, University of Technology, Iraq

Prof. Jawad K. Ali was born in Baghdad, Iraq, in November 1956. He received his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in 1979 and 1986, respectively, from Al-Rasheed College for Science and Technology, Iraq. From 1989 to 1991, he enrolled in a Ph.D. study program at the AZMA Academy in Brno, Czechoslovakia. Since 2010, he has been a Professor of Microwave Engineering at the University of Technology, Iraq. He is the founder and head of the Microwave Research Group at the University of Technology in Iraq. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the Deputy Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering at the same university. In 2018, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Communication and Electronics Engineering. He served as the Vice President of the University of Technology Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies till December 2019. Professor Ali has also served as the Dean of the College of Communication Engineering at the University of Technology, Iraq, till 2020. In 2024, he was appointed as the head of the Continuing Education Center at the same university. Currently, he is an Emeritus Professor of Microwave Engineering at the College of Communication Engineering, University of Technology, Iraq. His fields of interest include the miniaturization and design of microwave antennas, passive microwave circuit design, FPGA-based system design, and scientific research methodology. He is the Editor-in-chief and member of many national and international journal editorial boards. He has more than 100 published papers in local and international conferences and peer-reviewed journals. As a reviewer, Prof. Ali has reviewed over 6,000 articles, as verified in the Web of Science. Prof. Ali is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of both IET and IEICE.
